Mervyn Vermeulen holds an LLB from the University of South Africa (Unisa) and is admitted as an attorney in South Africa and as a solicitor in Scotland. He is a SAAM-accredited mediator and parenting coordinator and a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
He is the founder and Managing Director of Vermeulen Attorneys, where his practice focuses on divorce and family law, as well as civil litigation. He is also a co-founder and director of Malan Vermeulen Incorporated, which practises exclusively in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and parenting coordination.
Mervyn is one of the founders of ThinkLegal, an initiative which provides a platform for professional knowledge exchange and collaboration through continuing professional development training, networking initiatives and events.
Mervyn currently serves as the Chairperson of the South African Association of Mediators (SAAM) and, in that capacity, as one of its representatives on the board of the National Accreditation Board for Family Mediators (NABFAM). He also serves on the committee of the Gauteng Family Law Forum.
